Blinged out page

More scraps on this page.  I just added some bling here and there to spruce it up some.  Most of the bling is from making memories - actually all of it is!  The ribbon and background paper is Stampin' Up.  The red snowflake paper is Pretty Little Studio.  And the yo yo and embossed paper came from some of my Studio Calico kits.
I'm afraid to add too much more to these pages since they are only 6 X 8 1/2" - half of the time, I don't even add journaling or titles.  Really, they are just the yearly staples...not too much to say, anyway!

By Lori Designs - Lollipops

I've been stalking the By Lori Designs digi shop for months now, chomping at the bit to buy a few of her cute digi designs....I was just afraid I would mar her cute creations with bad coloring.  But.....I've been in a coloring mood lately and finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a few images.
We have a birthday party for my daughter's friend today, so I thought this would make a cute birthday image.  (Don't worry - it says happy birthday inside!!!!)
I colored this Happy Birthday Annie image using my Copics on Neenah paper.  I used some paper I had in the City of Lights Studio Calico kit for the card.  The floral paper is Bella Blvd. and the greenish paper is Bazzill.  I also added a few Basic Grey buttons.  Finally, the glitter, ribbon, and framelit die cuts are all from Stampin' Up.
I got a little inspired to add the buttons after seeing a challenge on The Pink Elephant to use buttons.  I have had this in the stash for way too long for those pretty buttons!
Just a fun little party card for a fun party weekend!  Live it up and remember our fallen soldiers this weekend!

May the Force be with your Christmas!

I am very fortunate to have a hubby who is very photogenic.  He almost always makes a gorgeous picture!  I, on the other hand, only make a good picture about 5% of the time (and then I usually still don't like them because I look too fat!)
Anyway, my husband asked for t-shirts and sweatshirts this year.  In fact, he had a rare moment of kindness in which he actually made a Christmas list.  This just doesn't happen people. Ever.  Not in the history of our marriage!  I nearly passed out.  Needless to say, he actually was pretty hapy with most of his gifts!  ;)
I'm almost out of the December Daily papers, so I swiped a few of the December kit papers - they were still great for these pages, so I just filled in the spaces.  Pretty simple.  That's the way these pages are going right now.....quick and simple.....and then off to handle the crying one.  That would be the 2 month old!  ;)

Christmas 2011

Nothing too  special here.  (It looks better in real life!)  Just a pic of daddy and daughter on Christmas Eve getting ready for the yearly Christmas paper throwdown.  I was just thinking that we may have to rent a UHaul to get home from Christmas 2012!  We usually have an entire trunkful (for our daughter, of course!  We get pretty boring gifts these days! ;)
Anyway, I loved these scraps of paper that I had left in the December Daily kit and couldn't part without using them one last time....so I used every single piece....every scrap.  I added a few October Afternoon stickers and chipboard buttons for good measure.

Happiness is family

This picture was really just too funny not to use!  My daughter had a dance she performed at a nursing home as well as a cheerleading demo event.  I guess she got super inspired after the event and decided to make some cheers.....with her daddy, of course!  Hee hee!
I just loved this happy little photo and didn't want to leave it out of our December Daily album!

Meeting Santa this year

I didn't know if we were going to get to see Santa this year, but it just so happened that Santa swung by church on Christmas morning to deliver a few presents to needy children, so Halleigh got to make sure and say hello to him!
I used some scraps for this page (the color is washed out in the photo some)
I love this October Afternoon sticker - I used a pennant underneath - I cut it down the middle and spaced it so it came out the sides like a banner.  Quick and easy!

December Daily

As I have finished up one project, I came across a few Christmas pictures that I didn't scrap.  I decided to add these pics to the end of my December Daily album.  Here is a pic of us at Christmas - I was about 6 month preggo here...
October Afternoon flags - so cute!!!

Project Life Week 11

I am finally getting my weeks for Project Life done....slowly, but surely.
As I still am not the greatest at photographing these pages with the protectors on, you won't be able to grasp the total effect of these two pages.  I really was pleased with the overall turnout of these two pages.  They really packed lots of color and tied in well across the two pages.
I had a few extra spots on each side, so that really allowed me to add in some extra pops of color, which I really liked.
I used some of the memoir collection from Studio Calico on these two pages.  I punched out several of the circles from the patterned paper with my 1 3/4" circle punch and layered them on top of other spots as well as lifted them with dimensional adhesive.
You'l notice I also use lots of buttons and green rhinestones on these two pages - again, fun little pops of color and accents.
The color is washed out, but there is a picture of me with Lori from Studio Calico.  I got to see her at a Studio Calico sponsored crop in Bowling Green.  I don't usually go - especially when I am about to give birth in just a few weeks.....but I knew it would be super fun!  Who knew I would come back with a ton of Studio Calico product?!?!?!?   Did I mention super fun?!

Project Life - Week 9

Even with no flash I got a glare on this one!  Too much sun, I guess!
This was kind of a funny one - it was supposed to be the big snowstorm of the winter....we got a whopping 2 inches or so!  Ha!  That's the story of our winter this year!  I used a few more Simple Stories spots and stickers embellished with pearls and brads.  I rescued another few scraps from the scrap pile and made a fast page out of this.
I'm not too fancy or ornate and wonderful with the project life pages I do, but I am keeping up okay with it - I'm up to March with my pics!

Project Life - Week 8

Here we have more PL stuff.  I added a few spots from Simple Stories at the top.
Down below you'll notice another ultrasound.  I also included 2 of the cuter valentines that came from my daughter's valentine stash she brought home.  Finally, I had a few crocheted embellishments just sitting on my desk and thought I'd add those on for a touch of coziness - goes right along with all of those Eskimo kisses we got for Valentine's Day!!!

Project Life, Week 7

Okay...so obviously I have fallen behind, but it is time to get caught up, so none of these pages are going to be too interesting, but I did get 4 weeks caught up this past week!
I came to a standstill because I realized about 3 of these pictures for this week were stuck on my husband's phone and hadn't transferred to the computer through ICloud.  Gotta' love and hate technology!
I was proud of myself for actually remembering some ephemera!  I had a movie ticket to the Vow from Valentine's weekend.
Nott too much on here - I will say, though,, that this scrap of October Afternoon paper was in the trash and I rescued it to use it on this page!  Always exciting to rescue some trash!

My first layout....ever....and my desk today

So, I was reading a scrapbooking forum today and saw a post about your first layout ever. I started scrapbooking in 1998...yes, people, that is 14 years ago! That was when you pretty much only found scrappy stuff at Hallmark or Wal-Mart....So here is my first scrapbook.
Here is my first layout - it is a page telling my college roomie and bestie about meeting my husband for the first time. Needless to say, I didn't immediately start scrapping, but I didn't wait too long to start! I used the email that I sent her for my journaling.
Nothing too special about that page....just a few stencils and decorative edged scissors.
Fast forward to today - this is what my scrapbook desk looks like right now. That album is a project life album that I'm very behind on.
The tower on the right holds little knick knack items like my paper piercer, bone folder, rhinestones, etc.
The boxes in front are my pictures - note to self....by a new picture box!
The towers on the left are my ink pads and embellishment holders. Probably need another of those embellishment holders.
My markers are on the left.
I pretty much don't show anyone this very often, because I'm pretty embarrassed at the mess! I am not one of those clean scrappers.....I have stuff everywhere - an organized (in my mind) every where!!!

What about your first layout? What does your desk look like today? Care to share?

Good Times

Graphic is not necessarily my style, but I love these hexagons that are oh so popular right now.  I even won a set of hexagon stickers from Pretty Little Studio - they are not even shipping yet!  I really love how they fit right inside the hexagon stamp I got in the 35 mm kit from SC this month!
Love all the new Heidi Swapp products, too!  These polaroid frames are too cute!

U R my world

I saw a layout by Stephanie Howell that I really liked on the Studio Calico website.  I decided to use her layout as inspiration.  I like her use of a large photo as well as the cut out flowers and tag for the title.  So I took those same elements and made my page.
Looks like there was a shadow I didn't notice when I took the picture this afternoon.  I thought I had good sun timing....oh, well.
I had to re-tack my ruffle ribbon at the bottom.  Found that at Hobby Lobby and used the entire strip from the package to go across the page because it matched my daughter's dress so well!  I took just the lace portion and added that as well as a strip of the ribbon package to put some pink under those little hearts in the tag.
That butterfly paper had me at hello....I think I have one little scrap left of it!  City of Lights kit is getting lots of lovin' right now!!!
Plus, I finished my Disney Cruise album!!!!  Yay!

Oh, happy, scrappy day!

The man in brown arrived this morning when I was getting the dishes done!  Always a great reason to take a break!!!
Here are a few of the goodies I snagged this month at Studio Calico - I was lucky enough to get a few of their misting masks.  Love those things!  Unfortunately, I was not able to grab the add-on kit Lomography that I wanted, so instead I pouted and didn't buy anything the rest of the time!  It's probably a reminder from God that I didn't really need more stuff!!!  Oh, well!
I did get a page done last night.  It wasn't anything too spectacular.  I loved this picture of our daughter from our cruise trip.  In case you're wondering....if you ever go on a Disney cruise, they will give your child an arm band to catch them if they try to escape....if you want to take pictures with professional photographers on board.....put it on their ankle or somewhere a little more inconspicuous.   Thankfully we were able to hide that sucker in this picture, some of our other pictures are almost gorgeous.....she just looks like a recently released convict coming out of prison.....all dressed up like a princess!!!  ;)  LOL

Anyway, to make this darling page, I used my County Fair and Kissing Booth kits from Studio Calico.  I picked up these Basic Grey stickers and used one for the title.  I decided it needed a  little panache, so I made a border using rhinestones.  Since I used them there, I decided they might make a great little blingy border for my banner at the top, too.

And if you don't mind me saying it, I think that girl of mine is pretty darn amazing.   Sure, she may color on her chore charts with crayons and think she's going to marry her baby brother, but she's a pretty good girl.  (Not that I'm partial, or anything!)  I just hope she stays that way!

Smile

Squee!!!!! I am almost finished with our pictures from our Disney Dream cruise! I have two more big pics I want to scrap and then I'm finished....then it's time to catch up on my Project Life unfinished projects!!!! Yep, that's right.....I've fallen way behind on everything in life. Not sure if it's because I usually only have one available hand to do anything....nursing a growing boy leaves me only about 1/4 of my day to do anything.....OR just the fact that pretty much nothing gets done around here!!! Ah, the life of a newborn in the house....

So here is a quickie post to show you my only precious page that I've finished all week!

I wanted to finish my album (there are about 3 open spots) with a few family pics we got from the professional photographers. In our family, we would rather not waste money on souvenirs that eventually get thrown away, we would rather spend all of that money on photos, so on the Disney cruise you can purchase a CD of all of the photos you take for your entire trip. Now, just so you know, it is a hefty price at first glance. What we have found out, though, is that the cost of this CD is pretty much the going rate for a CD only from professional photographers, so I am okay with this. We ended up with close to 100 photos on our CD!

The gorgeous papers, stickers, and washi tape for this page are all from my Studio Calico kits from last month. I ended up getting City of Lights as well as two add-ons - Louvre and Montmarte. Unfortunately, I was not so lucky this month. My add-on that I wanted sold out in about a minute or less both times I tried to purchase it! Oh, well....

I love how the teal washi tape is see through! I'm looking forward to taking a Washi Workshop online next month. I have fallen in love with this stuff, but I'm not always brave enough to use it. Here I ended up clipping the edges or hiding them under my other pieces in the layout to keep the look nice and clean rather than having those torn tape edges on this crisp, clean edges of my layout.

By the way, in case you didn't take the class, this layout came from the final sketch in Kelly Purkey's Sketchbook 4 class.
