Splash

This layout is so much prettier in real life!  I love the way it turned out!  I used the Memoir line from Studio Calico to make this page.  I cut my die cut page so I only used part of it.  I taped and pleated some tissue paper scraps and added some Washi tape on top.  My letters are making memories.  The swirly rhinestones are Prima (I think...).
I really love this butterfly.  It is Maya Road chipboard.  I added plenty of crystal effects and super fine turquoise glitter on top - you can see the shimmer in the picture!
And....who can resist this picture?  How cute is this pose....like an Olympic gymnast in the middle of a water splash area?  I decided to mimic that splashing with some Carribean Glimmer Mist.   I covered the journaling area with a scalloped rectangle and misted around that.  I removed the scalloped rectangle and journaled in the empty area.

Sketches in Thyme #70 - double pager

I love it when I find 2-page layouts, so this was a really great 2-page sketch I've been eyeing for a few days now.  I just couldn't decide on paper to use for my layout.  I knew I wanted red or blue to highlight the colors....I just had to wait for it.  I finally decided on this Cosmo Cricket paper that has been in my stash for a while.  I decided to added the chevron material (Amy Tan for AC) and cut the bottom row of chevrons along the edges.
The left side had several little circles that I debated using scallop circles for.....but then I had a bright idea.  I have been hoarding this red die cut Studio Calico paper for quite a while - I decided it was perfect for that edge on the left!
I finished it off with several kraft chipboard shapes I recently bought from Archivers - I believe it is My Mind's Eye.  I topped it off with Smooch top coat and a few red rhinestones.

Busch Gardens

I found a nice, basic sketch at Sketches in Thyme yesterday and decided to try it for this page.  I liked all the white space it left on the page.  I also liked how it kept the focus on the pictures.  The original sketch only had one picture, so I decided to place both of my pictures together on one picture mat.
I also liked the color scheme in the For Your Inspiration challenge.  It was all green and serene.
I had some scraps of My Mind's Eye paper from last summer that reminded me of the colors and decided to use that green background to highlight it.
For my strip across, I just layered 3 papers - white cardstock, the green side of the patterned paper, and the brighter sky blue colored patterned paper on top.
I added a white strip of ribbon with a little ribbon die cut spot.  I added a wooden Kaisercraft flourish and 3 buttons from My Mind's Eye for a nice, simple accent.
The letters are light blue foam Thickers from American Crafts.

Make Waves 2 page layout

I got the idea for this layout from another layout I saw created by Davinie Fiero in Creating Keepsakes magazine.  I decided to stick with the basic sketch from her layout and re-create the sketch using my own paper and pics.
This picture is a little washed out, but you can kind of see how I used Glimmer Glaze by Tattered Angels to paint some of the wood veneer frames.  I wanted them to have that same Aqua color of pools.  I added a little trio of buttons and brads next to the picture, also.
Here is the other side - I continued the layout here.  I really liked this Documentary paper by Studio Calico for the right side of the page.  This paper inspired the color combo.  It just looked like the ceramic tiles you sometimes see on pools and looked like a great starting point for a set of pictures of my two little fishes splashing around in the pool!

Paper (Studio Calico, American Crafts), Die cuts (Pink Paislee), Wood veneer, tags (Studio Calico), Markers, twine (Stampin' Up), Glimmer Glaze (Tattered Angels), Brads (Basic Grey, American Crafts), buttons (vintage)

Makeover Monday

I was so excited that Papercrafter's Library had a scrapbooko page for a makeover Monday challenge, I decided I just had to try it!  My page didn't exactly turn out the same way, but after plenty of tweaking, I finally came up with a layout I was pleased with!
I am just in love with this new Dear Lizzy line from American Crafts, so I pulled out some of the new papers from my recent Studio Calico kit, Daydream Believer.
I added a few Dear Lizzy stickers and a butterfly from The Gilded Bee.
Under the bottom right picture is a candy bag from Pebbles.  I decided to use that to hide some journaling inside.  I took more of the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan paper for journaling on one side and added a picture that didn't fit in the layout on the other side of the journaling tag.
For the title, I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds to the balloons.  I pierced holes and connected them with my white gel pen for some faux stitching in the corners.  Finally, I added some Peach Atyou Spica gel pen coloring over the word Fun in the title.

And I think I've made it....just in the nick of time!!!

Tiger Tunnel

Getting pictures of this Tiger Tunnel from the spectator's side (a 16 in thick panel of glass....) was nearly impossible!  So, I must say, that you probably can't tell much from the pictures.  Anyway, at Busch Gardens, there was a tunnel through which you could walk under the tiger's cage.  You go up in to this little tower of sorts and you can look in the cage from the tiger's view.  Except when we were there, the tiger was actually laying on top of the little tunnel spot!  When Toby and Halleigh were inside, the tiger popped his head up and started looking around!  It was so cool....only very difficult to take a picture with our poor little point and shoot baby.

Anyway, for this page, I decided to go with mostly scraps of orange paper and a touch of black and grey.  These are just scraps from some of my older Studio Calico kits, so I couldn't tell you which kits they are from!

I added some orange glitter ribbon from Making Memories.  To create the flower accent, I started with some Basic Grey canvas flowers and a Studio Calico sunburst journaling spot.  I finished it off with more of the orange glitter ribbon wrapped around on a gluber to make a glittery version of the rosette.

In the top corner, I cut a piece of Making Memories postcard for the journaling and added a few brads from Making Memories and Basic Grey.  The letter stickers are Amy Tan for American Crafts.

Delightful day at Busch Gardens

I started scrapping some pictures from our trip to Florida this past fall.  I'm really being able to keep up with my day to day scrapping with Project Life, so in my extra time, I am working on this album from Fall Break.
I wanted to capture all of the different elements of Busch Gardens that we loved.  There were animals, amusement park rides, and even a great kids area!
For the animals, I decided to color a lion from the Zoo Review Stampin' Up set.  I stamped the lion in Memento Cocoa ink and colored it with Copic markers.  I wasn't quite on target with the yellow markers that I had, but I came pretty close with my markers.
I added some Studio Calico paper, a few strips of Crate Paper border stickers, and an overlay that was in a Studio Calico kit.  I finished it off with a few Crate Paper and My Mind's Eye buttons in a triangle.  My title is from Basic Grey.

Love card

Since Valentine's Day is coming soon, I thought I'd use up some scraps on this card.  I used four different punches on the card - two ovals, a scallop edge, and a little heart punch.

The bow is a faux bow - I wrapped it around my fingers and took the middle and wrapped the brads prongs around it.  It looks really pretty and it allows you to get a double bow out of the ribbon.

Paper (Stampin Up, My Mind's Eye), Punches, brad (Stampin' Up), Sticker (sticko, Basic Grey), seam binding ribbon

Let's Talk Turkey!

I used Liz Qualman's sketch for this page.  This past November we got to spend a day with my room mate from college.  In college we always dreamed about our kids playing together, so this was like a dream come true!  The kids really hit it off and had a big time making these turkeys!

Paper (My Mind's Eye, Stampin' UP, Bazzill), Flowers (Basic Grey), Brads (American Crafts, Stampin UP), Tags (Studio Calico), Letter stickers (October Afternoon, American Crafts), Doily (wilton)

Project Life - Week 4

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get these pics in the page protectors.  They always leave a glare.  Ugh....This was using the museum setting and my tripod.  Couldn't get a straight angle either.  Oh, well, if you have any suggestions, I'm always up for them.
Here is the left side of the page.  I printed out my Cozi journaling on very vanilla cardstock.  I added a few buttons and stickers.  I also stitched some little curly trails under the butterflies with green embroidery thread.
And for the left side of the page....I finished my Cozi journaling.  More buttons and stitching.  I also punched out a little circle sticker of clothes (so you couldn't see my undergarments!!!) and stuck it in the circle at the top of the page.
For the Tim the Turtle spot - this is from one of my daughter's school papers.  I just colored it with my Copic markers and used the blender pen to remove some of the blue to create clouds.
