Cool Guy

I made this page the other day.  I just wanted to remember not just how tiny our sweet new baby was, but also how worried we were when he had jaundice for about 2 weeks when he was first born.  I realize it is not really uncommon for babies to be jaundiced, but our daughter never had it, so it worried us.  We had to go to the doctor and do bloodwork about 4 times after coming home from the hospital.....and then you start worrying about the levels getting high enough for brain damage, etc.....it was a tiny bit worrisome!  Soon after, though, he started growing like a weed, and now at 3 months, he's a chunky little monkey!  ;)
Anyway, I was inspired to create this page by the cover of the latest Scrapbook Trends magazine.  Except...unlike the cover creation....my creation is not as cute.  DH was not overly pleased with this layout and I just decided to suck it up and leave it as is.
I used pieces from the recent 35 mm kit from Studio Calico for this layout.  I had a few pieces of MMI from last summer that I added (I didn't have a little boy back then!!!).  The mistable hexagon pieces are spritzed with Carribean Blue Glimmer Mist, so they have a slight shimmer to them.

Pray

It's time for another mommy confesssion.  Folks, I did not close my eyes the whole time during this particular prayer at our house.  It could be because there were 20 kids there and I wanted to make sure mine was behaving....just sayin'....
What to my wandering eyes should appear but this darling sight??!  Nothing but sweetness!  Not kids acting silly!  My daughter and one of her friends were both kneeling over with their hands clasped as we blessed the food.  How sweet is that?!  Precious!  So, I decided to make this layout as a little prayer over her life in return!
All of the pieces here come from the Studio Calico So Cal kit.  I love these My Mind's Eye chipboard pieces.  I mean, literally, I could just use these forever!  I think the background sheet is MME, also.
I added a little bit of MME baker's twine and some tiny pearls from SU.  The journaling spot is Studio Calico..  Finally, my favorite....these butterfly sequins!  I think I could have about a million of these and not run out!
I am almost out of my Wilton doilies, though....time to go to Hobby Lobby!  What a shame, eh?!

How Sweet it is to Be Loved by You

Ah, a daddy's girl - my daughter loves her daddy and her daddy loves her.  He's always tickling her and playing silly stuff with her....he also gets snakes and bugs out of the house when they creep in!  (Yes, occasionally a snake slithers in....UGH!!!!  The treachery of living in the woods....)  He is definitely our knight in shining armour!
What better way for a girl to remember this?
Items are from the SoCal kit by Studio Calico.

Epic Egg Hunt

Well, I must admit - this is not exactly your traditional Easter egg hunt page....but who says you have to be all about tradition?!  I like going outside the box sometimes!  What I love in retrospect?   My husband told me last night.....hey, you know those white frames almost look like Polaroid frames!  He got it!  I said, "That's what they're supposed to look like!  Aren't they cool?!"   So, Heidi Swapp, since I know you have no idea who I am, I still want to tell you thanks!  You brought out one of those occasional rare moments when my husband didn't just glance at the page and grunt in the middle of an NBA playoff game - your product actually made him get excited and really like a page!  Squeal!  :)

Okay, so enough silliness for now - this all came from Studio Calico's 35 mm kit.  I loved these little Heidi Swap add-ons......I just couldn't stop.
So, if you don't like it.....shoot me!  (With a camera, that is!)

New baby!

Here's our sweet little baby boy.  He's three months old today.  Can you believe that?!?!?  Look how tiny he is - already it seems as if he's grown so much in just 3 months.  It's amazing and crazy how fast babies grow!
Anyway, I started with a mask and sprayed Lemonade, Dewey, and Bonnie Blue mr. Huey over the mask.  The wood buttons and stars came from Jamie Rose (thanks, Jamie!) at Studio Calico - I know the stars are SC, I think the buttons are probably American Crafts.
The rectangle piece and top sticker is from Simple Stories - I love their stuff!!!  The other sticker at the top is from My Mind's Eye.

Another Frosted Designs sketch

Okay, I took a bit of liberty with this one.  I kind of flipped it the opposite way and played with the elements....but that is what sketches are for - a base to get you going, right?  So here's what I came up with.
Is this not just the cutest picture?  Note the strategically placed foot, there?!  You can't not scrap those first bath pics....but then again....you don't just need to let it all hang out everywhere!
Anyway, there is a book by Kyle Idleman called not a fan.  That gave me the idea for this title - I decided since babies don't usually like that FIRST bath, but all the rest of the baths they like, I called it not a fan....yet.
I think I used some different kit pieces from Studio Calico for this page.  I don't remember which ones, because I was just pulling here and there.  I addded a few journaling spots from Pretty Little Studio.  Loving these corrugated cardboard thickers.....well, I just love thickers in general!
There is a Studio Calico sticker behind the 1 on the the tag - it almost blends in with the paper!
I like the streamlined look this sketch brought to the page.

It's birthday season!

I found this sketch at Frosted Designs....except I ran out of room to put my sentiment - I just stamped it inside instead!
Here's what I made with the sketch:
I don't know why, but it seems as if there are more birthday parties during the summer than any other time of the year!  Every spring we stock up on birthday items from the clearance aisles of our local stores.  Every summer at the beginning I think to myself, we are really doing good - we have enough toys in the storage area to last us all summer long for the birthday parties.   Every summer by the end of June....I'm hoping I can find more clearance aisles to replenish the stock!  Does this happen to you, too?!
This card was for one of the little boys at church.  He invited our daughter to his party.  Later I found out he told everyone she was his girlfriend!  Cute (until they're tweens!)
Anyway, I thought this little cupcake from Pretty Little Studio looked like a great birthday accent, but it had a scallop circle around it - not boyish enough for a Captain America present.  I punched it into a plain circle and backed it with a 1 3/8" circle.  I put this on top of one of the star journaling spots....I am going to have to buy more of these.  I'm almost out already!
I liked this graphic circle mask from Studio Calico, so I sprayed Overdue Mr. Huey over it to make it have a boyish Captain America look.  Then I took some scraps for the rest of the card.  I know you can't tell, but the striped paper is actually the packaging from the star shaped journaling spots.....Pretty Little Studio has some of the best packaging for re-use in your cards and scrapbooks!
Hope he likes it!

PLS Sketch #51

I found this little sketch at Pretty Little Studio yesterday and thought it would be a great sketch for a new brother and sister pic.  I switched up the sketch just a bit and didn't go with the hexagons (although I do like them!).  Here's what I came up with.
Are they not precious?  My daughter is so in love with her brother she wants to marry him!  How cute is that?  I can't believe he was so tiny and has already chunked up so much!  He's not quite 3 months old.  What a sweet set of love bugs!
I used the County Fair and Kissing Booth kits from Studio Calico for this page.

Delightful Sunny Smiles

Is this picture not just gorgeous?!  I can't take credit for it - one of our friends posted it on facebook, so I couldn't resist printing that baby out!  I just love the expression on my daughters face, the glimmer of the buttons on her dress, and the blur of lights in the background.  It really captures my daughter's spirit quite well.  Thankfully, she adores taking pictures, so I guess I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts!!!
Thanks to Jamie Rose from Studio Calico for sending these great Dear Lizzy banners to me!  They are so fun to play with - and I have plenty more - even better!!!
I used more of that shaving cream background technique on this page.  I added some more Dear Lizzy stickers for a title, some SU glimmer brads, and a dahlia from the current SC kit to make the title.
Honestly, I just loved this picture so much, I didn't want to take away from the picture by overwheming it with embellishments, so I stuck with the KISS method here!  Keep It Simple Scrapper!

Project Life Week 14

Another week with a ton of journaling!  You know what's crazy?  I somehow didn't remember to journal about the first bath - am I a bad mom or what?!  I'm sure between having mastitis, a baby with jaundice and only 3-4 hours of sleep a night......well, I guess I can see what happened.
It's funny - the baby is only 12 weeks old, but he sure has grown!  It's already hard to imagine him being so tiny!  I know those of you with kids know that, though!
Look at that little cutie!  Don't you love the strategically placed foot here?!  ;)

Project Life Week 13

Here is week 13 of Project Life - lots of journaling for this week and next week - I'm sure you can't imagine why!!!  I tried to get the journaling and main pics for this week - all of the pictures are going in a digital album that I need to finish.  For now, I am just pretty happy that I've gotten this far in my project life!
Nothing too special here - most of the stickers are from Simple Stories and a few Jolee's stickers.  The paper is from SU.

PLS: Inspiration Challenge #43

Crayon and paint drips are all the rage lately, so when I saw the inspiration challenge at Pretty Little Studio, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!  My daughter wanted to get messy and I had an idea in mind!
To make this card for my Project Life album, I played in shaving cream.  I'm sure you've probably done this before, but I had not and have wanted to for a long time.
Since we were playing I didn't really take pics, but here are the steps:
1.   I took a platter of shaving cream and smoothed it out.
2.  Next, I took some re-inkers of colors that matched my project -- here it is Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, and Pretty in Pink (all SU inks) -- and dripped little drops onto the shaving cream.
3.  I swirled those around with a popsicle stick to get the color spread around.
4.  I took my paper and dipped it into the shaving cream/re-inkers.
5.  I blotted the shaving cream off (on a craft mat to keep the table clean!) with a paper towel.
6.  I repeated as desired until the color was just right.
And since I am kicking myself for not buying more of the hopscotch line at Pretty Little Studio, I had to share this cutie little journaling card.  I used it to introduce the month of April in my album.  Aren't they just the cutest!?
And here are the rest of the pictures.....I have been waiting for a fun little page to use these October Afternoon stickers!  It was a great little pop of color for my PL album!  I was a little washi happy, too....can you tell?!

Project Life Week 12

Okay, so I *think* I am on week 12!!!!  They all kind of blur together, but I am starting to get the hang of this Project Life stuff.  Some spreads I like more than others, but I was again pleased with how this spread turned out.  I didn't have an overwhelming amount of pictures to use on this week, but I had some ephemera I wanted to include.  I had a paint swatch from my daughter's newly painted room, a picture she drew, and the doctor's orders for me to have a repeat section the next week.  Since the room was painted pink, I went with pink and red colored papers.
The main paper you see here is from Crate Paper.  I added some Crate Paper chipboard stickers, Basic Grey stickers, and a few accents from Pretty Little Studio.
Here I added a little scrap from an October Afternoon paper.  I had half a journaling tag left (PLS) so I used that to describe the doctor's orders.  Since it was about the baby, I added a littl Jolee's Boutique sticker to it.
Down here at the bottom you see a picture my daughter drew of her pushing the baby in the stroller.  She was pretty excited about her new baby brother coming!

Found my masks!!!

I nearly had a heart attack the other day.  I wanted to use this mask on this card......except I couldn't find my masks.....anywhere!  I racked my brain, searched my scrap area.....lamented over my brand new SC masks that had just disappeared......and then the next day I finally found them!  I was so happy, I wanted to make a card to celebrate.
So, here is the happy little card I made to celebrate!
I started with a Crushed Curry cardstock card base (SU).  I spritzed Bonnie Blue Mr. Huey over the Studio Calico circle mask and let that dry.
Next, I took a journaling card from Pretty Little Studio and added it a little caddycorner to the card to give it a fun, whimsical look.  I topped that off with a cluster of little banners - I think the yellow ones are from Pink Paislee.  The blue banner is from Pretty Little Studio's new Sandcastle collection (LOVE!).
It just needed a little extra oomph, so I used these darling wooden stars that my pal over Studio Calico sent me - thanks Jamie Rose!!!!!  They were the perfect little confetti like addition to this card!
Now I'm all ready to send a birthday present to one of the little boys having birthday parties this summer!  Bring on the sprinklers!!!!!

Washi punching

I'm taking the Washi Workshop over at Studio Calico right now, so one of the challenges was to create an image using washi that you have punched out.  To do this, I took a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and covered it with 3 colors of Washi tape - red, green, and black to match.  I punched out an ornament punch from the washi and put Real Red behind the punched piece.  To highlight the negative space, I took a black pen and created faux stitches around the punched area.  I hated to just throw away the actual punched image, so I added it to the bottom of the layout.  I didn't want it to take over the picture itself (which caught a huge glare when photographing this!!!), so I added it to the bottom and cut off what hung over the edge.
I finished the layout off with a few chipboard buttons from October Afternoon, baker's twine from MME and SU, a brad from MME, and a paper clip from SC.
It's funny....I keep thinking I'm done with this December Daily album.....but then I find another picture to add....Oh, well!  The more the merrier!  ;)

Happy Christmas Memories

I got some new items from Pretty Little Studio recently and decided to put them to work with my old December Daily kit from Studio Calico.  I cut a mat out of white cardstock (SU) and added a little bit of green washi tape across the bottom.
Next, I inked up a happy word card from Pretty Little Studio and added some Christmas word stickers to create the title.  I had a scrap of some Pretty Little Studio paper left from another page, so I added that across to separate the journaling star from the happy title.
With a little bit of ribbon and a flag and button, I finished it off.  And soon I'll be finished with my Christmas pictures!

Do I spy a new collection?

From Studio Calico?  Looks fun!
Found this in my kit this morning - sorry about the bad pic - my camera is still in the car - at work with the hubs.
